Mannequin Head Forms

Friday, October 8th, 2010

Mannequin head forms are not just for wigs anymore! We have re-imaged the head form just in time for the Halloween season. Traditionally, mannequin head forms have been used for wigs. We wanted to show you a few non traditional ways to accentuate fashion accessories and combine these items to create table top displays that your customers will have to turn their heads and take notice. Pictured above is our female 20″ suntan styrofoam mannequin head. Typically these head forms are used to display long haired wigs. We simply took a feathered masquerade mask to accentuate the detail of the mask. Because the neck is long, it really draws the eye upward. This is a simple alternative instead of displaying the masks on a peg hook or inside of a display case.

The next display combines our 11″ male suntan styrofoam mannequin head and our 11″ white female styrofoam mannequin head form. Inspired by Alice In Wonderland we have pulled together a complete table display that is inspiring and unique. This would be a great way to display Halloween hats and other accessories.

Alice In Wonderland Display

To duplicate this look,  you can use a round or rectangular table covered with fabric. We used a wine velvet cloth. Next we added some old books. We placed a mad hatter hat on to of the male head on top of a stack of the books. We leaned the books onto each other and opened one in front of the display.  Next we added a box covered in gift wrap and ribbon. We added a white female mannequin head and placed a pair of bunny ears and gold glasses onto the form. Lastly we added a vial of colored water and tea cup to complete the look.

As always we love to hear from you so make sure you let us know what you have done to make your Halloween displays shine! Have a wonderful weekend and keep checking back with us for more inspiration, tips and ideas.

Halloween Displays

Wednesday, October 6th, 2010

The Halloween season is one of the best times of the year when you can just let your creativity go wild! With a few scary or seasonal signature items added to the mix, you can create displays that will come alive so that your customers will take notice and perhaps purchase everything on the table! In the above photos we wanted to provide you with a little inspiration.

Colors of the Season

We have taken our creative license to encourage you to embrace the colors of the season. While orange and black are traditional Halloween colors, we also feature our citrus green paper shopping bags with orange tissue paper, black paper shopping bags with canary yellow tissue paper and our burnt orange paper shopping bags with black tissue paper. All of the bags featured are 16×6x12″ bags.

We called upon the spirit of Edgar Allen Poe’s classic The Raven to create a fun display featuring our orange and black bags and tissue along with fun black birds in various stages of flight and rest.

The Raven Tabletop Display

To create our raven display, you can use a round display table or any flat surface. Place a large piece of burlap fabric to cover the top. Alternate the bag colors and tissues on the diagonal or whatever formation you would like. Place fabric spider webs from the top of the bag to the table. Tear small sections and stretch the webs for the most realistic result. The webs will generally stay attached to any fabric you use. If they do not, simply tape them to the table and cover with any item that you are using for your display. Next we added a Gothic inspired candle stick with a round candle at the front of the display. We finished off the look by placing the black bird on the top of each bag and on the table in front of the bags. And finally we added some corked viles  filled with food coloring tinted water. Now you have a complete look for your store that will delight your customers and truly inspire.

We would love to see displays that you have created. Feel free to send them to us so that we can show them off!

Top 3 Tips For Going the Distance With Your Clothing Racks And Mannequins

On Monday, we touched on our promotional lighting as a way to add to your Halloween displays. Today, we want to address the sales floor. During the season, you may have an entire store or just a section of your store that will be allocated to Halloween costumes and accessories. This presents the opportunity to utilize your clothing racks and mannequins in ways you may not have thought of before.

We have a large selection of clothing racks. Some of these include traditional 2 way and 4 way racks as well as some non traditional display choices like our chrome spiral rack and “singles” costumer. Here are some tips for you to consider this season.

Tip No.1

  • Use the singles costumer to display a complete look.
  • Place it on the side of a two way rack containing all the same look as the outfit on the costumer.

Tip No.2

  • If you have a lot of similar costumes available in various sizes group those together on a round rack.
  •  These racks can hold up to 144 garments per rack and adjust from 48” to 72” which is great for longer costumes.

Tip No.3

  • Show a costume in a new way by choosing a mannequin in a seated pose. People are always curious how an outfit will look in a variety of real life situations
  •  Use the mannequins in your window display in full costume along with other decorations to add life like drama to your grouping.

Please send us your favorite Halloween displays! We would love to see them!

Have a great weekend. I will see you next week.

Lighting Display Ideas

Fall is the best time of year to really tap into your creative side.  With fall and winter holidays approaching this provides the perfect opportunity to create interesting and eye catching store displays in order to show off your merchandise. One of the best ways to do this is with our lighting accessories.

If you are planning to sell Halloween costumes or other merchandise, there is no better way to show off your creativity than to include our mini strobe light. The strobe light has an adjustable speed controller and is a proven attention getter. A smart affect can be created simply by putting a mini strobe light into your display. As the lights flash, it really catches the attention of people passing by and sets a spooky holiday tone.)

If your store carries a variety of holiday seasonal merchandise I also recommend our red and blue rotating sale beacons. The red beacon can be used in a window display can be used to add depth to an existing display or perhaps attract your customers to a specific area within your store.  You may want to use the red beacon within the store to simply let them know where your Christmas merchandise is located.

Don’t forget the outside of your store – we also carry solid core tube lights in a variety of different colors. These lights are commercial grade and can be used in all sorts of fun and exciting ways!

Thanks for checking in with us! I will be back with you Friday for other insightful ideas for the holidays.
